CHEAP NATURAL FIBRE? Where To Buy Clothes That Aren't Petrochemicals
Every time I post about natural fibre clothing, people tell me I'm poor shaming, so here's where to buy natural fibre clothing at a range of price points.
Whenever I suggest that natural fibre clothing is generally more comfortable, breathable, and stylish than synthetic fibre, the ‘what about’ brigade comes out in full force. What about occasion wear, what about sportswear, what about my dog who only earns 20p per week at the puppy mill?
To answer the FAQs: yes, a lot of occasion wear requires some form of synthetic fibre, especially if it has sequins or metallics, and this is an intentional part of the design. Good quality occasion wear will often have a blend of materials, or use a semi-synthetic like viscose, which feels nicer against the skin. Sportswear made of moisture-wicking synthetic fibre is absolutely fine, though I do love a cotton tee for low intensity sports.
When it comes to the question of affordability, I have been wearing primarily natural fibre clothing for a few years now, and have yet to appear on the Forbes Rich List. So, what brands are best to look for?
1 - M&S Classics
An oldie but a goodie, M&S classics are primarily natural fibre, and are frequently available in charity shops and on Vinted for half the price. Shop here for linen skirts and dresses in particular, especially if you’re not too picky about fabric weight.
